 UCI, the International Cycling Federation, presented the list of participants the Cross-Country, Downhill and 4 X events planned next week at Champery during the upcoming UCI MTB & Trials World Championships. For the moment up to 840 athletes (without substitutes) coming from 49 Nartions have been registered for the 2011 Worlds. The liste with the Trials participants is expected soon.

 Myriam Nicole earlier in the day and Aaron Gwin afterwards were the heroes of the last World Cup downhill races at Val di Sole where the competitions took place by excellent weather conditions in front of a huge crowd. After another reckless ride down the dry and treacherous Italian track, Gwin won his fifth race this season to establish a new season record.

 By moving up among the top twenty at the selective race at Nove Mesto, in the Republic of Czech, Marielle Saner-Guinchard finds herself in a much better position in the world’s elites than during the past few weeks, and may again hope to achieve a strong performance in three weeks during the World Championships at Champéry.

 Final winner of the 2011 UCI XC World Cup standings after his recent triumph at Nove Mesto, in the Czech Republic, Jaroslav Kulhavy will be the ‘rider to beat’ early September at the UCI XC World Championships in Champéry. At 26, he fully achieved his potential this season.
